"Adventures in Adams County"

The spring 2008 “Adventures in Adams County” tour, sponsored by the Adams County Historical Society, will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 9:00-3:00PM. Author, Licensed Battlefield Guide, and Society research assistant, Timothy H. Smith will be the tour leader.
The tour will explore a number of historic sites, including Sach’s Bridge, the oldest covered bridge in the county; Bard’s Mill, the site of a raid during the French and Indian War; Yellow Hill, the site of a community established by runaway slaves; and Great Conewago Cemetery in Hunterstown, one of the earliest Presbyterian cemeteries in the area. A delicious buffet lunch will be served at the Apple Bin Grill and Bakery for participants. The cost of the tour is $30 for ACHS members and $40 for non-members, which includes bus transportation and lunch.
Timothy Smith has been a Licensed Battlefield Guide at the Gettysburg National Military Park for many years. He is an active research assistant at the Adams County Historical Society in addition to leading tours for the Society throughout Adams County. Mr. Smith has written numerous articles on the history of the area and the battle of Gettysburg and is the author of several books.
