The Adams County Historical Society, in conjunction with the Seminary Ridge Historic Preservation Foundation, presents a visit to the famed cupola, an observation point used by Union General John Buford and the Union Signal Corps on July 1, 1863, and a special tour of Schmucker Hall (Old Dorm).
Tour includes: (Approximately 1 hour)
Trip to the Cupola
Brief overview and description of the Seminary and fighting on July 1, 1863
Historical background on the building as a field hospital
Special viewing of rare and signature artifacts related to the Civil War in the collections of the Adams County Historical Society
Guided tour of the Civil War Exhibit Gallery
All reservations on a first come first served basis. Members of either organization and their guest(s) receive this special price. Non-members require a minimum donation of $125.00 per person. No children under 12 permitted. Children between the ages of 12 and 17 must be accompanied by their legal guardian. Specific tour times will be issued prior to the event. Full refunds available up to April 5, 2009. NO REFUNDS AFTER April 6, 2009.
Schmucker Hall was built in 1832 and is not handicapped accessible. All participants must be physically able to ascend five flights of stairs. All participants must sign a liability waiver.
