Local History Teacher’s Workshop - October 13
Presented by Adams County Historical Society
The Adams County Historical Society invites Adams County educators to the inaugural Teacher’s Workshop on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Seminary Library, Gettysburg, second floor lecture room. The workshop is free and open to teachers in Adams County.
The theme of the workshop, “Using Local History in the Classroom” will incorporate local history into state and national standards. Attendees will receive reproductions of documents, maps, photographs and other classroom support materials and will receive a certificate of attendance for their professional development.
As a preview of the Society’s efforts to bring local history into the classrooms across Adams County, the Society is also making available digital Toolkits to county educators that will support their year-long lesson plans. This new free resource will make available primary historical documents and resources from the County’s Attic to evoke critical thinking within classes and school curricula. The Toolkits are being made available digitally to Adams County teachers upon request, without obligation.
To participate in the October Teacher’s Workshop or the digital Toolkits service, please contact the Adams County Historical Society at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (717) 334-4723 and include your name, school, grades and classes taught. Registration for the Teacher’s Workshop is required in advance of the event and space is limited.
