Touring the Museum
Appointments are required in order to tour the Adams County Historical Society’s museum so that we may ensure a museum docent is available to escort visitors through the galleries. The cost is $3.00 per person. Behind-the-scene tours are also available for groups (minimum 10 people) for $10 per person. Call 717-334-4723 or e-mail info@achs-pa.org for more information.
Touring the Cupola
The Adams County Historical Society does advertise dates for cupola tour events. The Society will open the cupola twice a year for tours. Check our programs and events for this years dates. Tours are approximately 1 hour and it includes a history of the building as a Civil War Hospital, a presentation of rare artifacts in the collection, and time in the cupola. Large groups are often separated into smaller groups and rotated between guides. The cupola can only accommodate approximately 8 people at a time.
Cupola tour event pricing is as follows:
- Members of the Adams County Historical Society and/or Seminary Ridge Historic Preservation Foundation: $100.00 minimum donation
- Non-members: $125.00
- Group tours are available. The Society requires an advance appointment and a minimum of 10 people or $1,000 per group. There are no individual tours.
Persons from 12-17 must have a legal guardian with them for the tour.
All visitors to the cupola must sign a liability waiver holding the Lutheran Seminary at Gettysburg, Seminary Ridge Historic Preservation Foundation, and the Adams County Historical Society harmless.
