Civil War & Battle of Gettysburg

Help Preserve Civil War History

July 1, 1863 marked the beginning of the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War. The Adams County Historical Society collection includes significant material related to the battle and its aftermath. It includes the largest collection of civilian accounts detailing their experiences during the battle, many artifacts, and thousands of photographs. Our Civil War library consists of thousands of books - many focusing on the Battle of Gettysburg.

We also have an extensive collection of material related to Adams County Civil War soldiers. This includes diaries, period photographs, and items the soldiers used during the war. These materials help modern day researchers and genealogists better understand the experiences local soldiers faced during the war.

Join us today in preserving this important part of our nations history!
