Shell Shocked: Behind the Scenes at the Joseph Sherfy Farm

Tuesday, July 6, 2021
2:00 pm3:00 pm

Millions of people have visited Joseph Sherfy’s famous Peach Orchard on the southern end of the Gettysburg Battlefield. But the story of the Sherfy family and their home along the Emmitsburg Road is not as well known. On July 6, 1863 – 158 years ago – the family returned to find scenes of unbelievable carnage and destruction. Some of this battle damage is still visible today. Other artifacts from the farm are preserved by the Adams County Historical Society and will be brought back to the property for this real-time digital program.

Join us on Tuesday, July 6th at 2pm via Facebook Live for a special tour of the Sherfy farm hosted by historians from Gettysburg National Military Park, the Gettysburg Foundation, and the Adams County Historical Society.
