Researching Your Civil War Ancestors - Thursday, June 1st, 6 p.m.
If you had ancestors in the United States in the early 1860s, they were undoubtedly embroiled in the tragic events of the Civil War. Join ACHS Historian Tim Smith as he discusses various tools that are available to researchers hoping to learn more about their Civil War ancestors.

The Civilian Accounts of 1863 - Thursday, July 27th, 6 p.m.
ACHS is the repository for the most extensive collection of civilian accounts of the Battle of Gettysburg in existence. Join ACHS Historian Tim Smith as he discusses how the collection came to be and how it can be utilized to enhance future historical interpretations of the the battle.

Mapping the Gettysburg Battlefield - Thursday, August 24th, 6 p.m.
Because of the famous battle that occurred here, Gettysburg and its surrounding is one of the best documented areas in terms of 19th century cartography. Join ACHS Historian Tim Smith as he examines the early maps of Gettysburg and Adams County.

In fleshing out the lives of our ancestors or a specific historical event, the newspapers of the day are an often-overlooked resource. Learn the most up-to-date strategies for finding and searching these local and national publications with ACHS Historian Tim Smith.

"When was my house built?" is one of the most common questions we receive at ACHS, but this type of research is often challenging and time consuming. Join ACHS Historian Tim Smith as he discusses the process and strategies utilized in home and property research.

Exploring Census Records - Thursday, November 30th, 6 p.m.
One of the fundamental research tools used by genealogists is the United States Census. Taken every 10 years since 1890, past censuses are available online and are highly searchable. Join ACHS Historian Tim Smith as he explores census records and discusses the best way to use this valuable information in your research.
